  • Abstract
The principles of the cochlear implant and the speech processing strategies were presented. Then, the performance of spectral peak method and short-time Fourier transform method in DSPs were proposed to be used for cochlear implant. The experiment proved: The two strategies of the electronic cochlear system both could get good speech recognition, but the performance of STFT method has a great flexibility to pick up channelspsila parameters to stimulate the auditive nerves of a totally or profoundly deaf person and it had a faster processing speed. The traditional processor was made of ASIC circuit, its design and improvement was very complicated. The hardware design in DSPs could be simpler and more flexible.
