Abstract :
Summary form only given. Intense THz electric and magnetic fields are exploited to drive extreme nonlinearities in semiconductors, magnetically ordered solids, and molecular systems. Electro-optic sampling allows us to perform field-sensitive two-dimensional spectroscopy, including four- and six-wave mixing in indium antimonide, as well as THz bias - optical probe experiments beyond static dielectric breakdown fields. Finally, we introduce a novel scheme for coherent spin control in antiferromagnetic nickel oxide mediated by the THz magnetic field component.
