  • Abstract
To control trains through wireless communication, firstly, a codeword with suitable error detection capability must be selected to satisfy the safety requirement. Bursts of frame errors, which may cause an emergency stop, have a negative impact on train control especially at high speed. Secondly, the probability of burst of frame errors must be kept approaching zero at any train speed to make wireless transmission useful. This paper analyzed the effect of Doppler frequency shift due to train´s movement on data transmission, which may be severe in high-speed railways. Based on this, we obtained the criteria to judge if the link performance satisfies the requirement of train control. Measures to remove the negative effects of the Doppler frequency shift have also been mentioned
