Abstract :
This paper presents an FPGA-based module for representative points extraction from grey-scale images. The method for representative choice is based on the criterion of D-optimality. According to this criterion, points, which lie on the protruded peripheral wrapping of the objects, represent them in the best way. Proposed module transforms the image in order to produce properly conditions for the next step - important points extraction and makes the choice of these important points. The module has been designed using XILINX SPARTAN- IIE evaluation kit and chip XC2S300E.
