Abstract :
Regulatory networks are at the core of the control of cellular processes, integrating varied molecular components connected through diverse relations. Because of the high complexity of these networks, there is a real need for dedicated modelling and analysis tools, to better understand how observed cellular behaviours are governed. Beyond a better understanding, dynamical modelling should also support hypothesis validation and prediction making. In this context, the paper overviews the combined use of a multi-valued logical formalism and discrete Petri nets to qualitatively model and analyse regulatory networks. Following a presentation of both approaches, prospects are discussed within the emergent field of systems biology.
