Abstract
Attempts to improve the reliability and maintainability of Special Operations Forces (SOF) fixed wing aircraft avionics by developing the mission computer replacement prototype (MCRP), are described. The purpose of the MCRP is to design, build, and demonstrate a replacement mission computer that is applicable across SOF aircraft. Our goal is to develop an open architecture mission computer based on industry standards and COTS and nondevelopmental item components, with maximum reuse of the existing operational flight program software
