Abstract
This paper proposes a new control strategy to capture optimum power from the wind through closed loop current control and rotor speed regulation of DFIG. Firstly wind turbine characteristics and optimum power curve is introduced. Active and reactive power decoupling control is adopted from the principle of stator oriented field control. Mathematical model of DFIG with current control loop using PI controller is designed to maximise the power extracted from the wind. Simulation results in Matlab/Simulink show the effectiveness of the strategy proposed.
