Abstract
This paper exploits the robustness of the recently-introduced factored load flow solution scheme around and beyond the maximum loadability point. First, it is shown that, starting from the customary flat start, the factored frequently converges to complex solutions when the scenario being solved is infeasible in the real domain. Then, complex starting points are proposed significantly improving the ability of the factored method to converge both to real and complex solutions, corresponding to feasible and infeasible cases, respectively.
