Abstract :
The underlying philosophy, structure, and contents of the course in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch is discussed. An overview of plans to increase the success rate while maintaining high standards is also given. It is noted that the replacement of the separate programs in Electrical and Electronic Engineering has stimulated joint energy/information projects. Industry has responded positively to the changes; they especially welcome the breaking down of barriers between different branches of engineering
