Abstract :
This study is dealing with a model to monitor and to predict soil salinity by means of remote sensing and GIS. Field work as well as a literature review (Halverson, A.D. and Rhoades, J.D., 1974, Rhoades, J.D. 1975, Kovda, V. 1975) showed that there is a close relation between soil salinity and the soil drainage conditions. It can be stated in a general way that the worse the drainage conditions the higher the electrical conductivity of the soil will be. The problem of soil salinity is connected with the waterlogging. A test zone was selected between the edges of the Nile Delta and the Suez canal.
