Abstract :
Low grazing angle (LOGAN) sea clutter data were collected with the SPC MKIV radar as part of the LOGAN experiment. Spatial and temporal correlation processing of the high-resolution data provides insights into the space-time attributes of natural sea clutter backscatter. Automatic signal processing algorithms may exploit these attributes to improve information management and data extraction in the presence of a "spiky" sea-clutter background. This paper presents sample observations of radar sea clutter spatial and temporal correlation and describes how the space and time dependencies may be included in predictive models for sea surface backscatter.
