Abstract
Spartina alterniflora Loisel. is a serious exotic and invasive weed in many nations including China. In present study, the method of biocontrol was used to control the weed by a fungal pathogen-Fusarium subglutinans. In addition, we compared the conidia of F. subglutinans with the metabolite virulence. The experimental results manifested that the effective ingredient was the conidia of F. subglutinans. Moreover, we explored the optimal conditions for controlling the growth of S. alterniflora-the optimal fermentation time was 9 days, pH was 8 and the inoculation volume is 3 mL culture fluid with 1 mL sterile deionized water. Results indicated that F. subglutinans was a valuable bioherbicide candidate for the control of S. alterniflora.
