Abstract :
This paper describes a new design voltage source vector controlled inverter series based on high current-high voltage IGBT components. The rated voltage of this inverter series is 690 V with rated power up to 3400 kVA. The converter is based on compact, draw-out, air cooled power modules, transducers, fan and control. It is also possible to connect in parallel such compact inverters to get the required power value. The paper also describes the most important electrical and thermal aspects of the inverter design, gate driver stages and protection of semiconductors
