Abstract
This paper introduces a new particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm called coordinated aggregation (CA) PSO, which simulates how the achievements of particles are distributed in the entire swarm affecting its manipulation. Specifically, at each iterative cycle of the CA, each particle regulates its velocity taking into account only the positions of particles with better achievements; with the exception of the particle with the best achievement that moves randomly as a "crazy" leader. The results obtained by CA on the reactive power and voltage control of IEEE 30-bus test system are compared with those given by PSO demonstrating the excellent performance of CA
