Abstract :
A novel low-cost planar monopole antenna with high-gain and omnidirectional radiation characteristics for WLAN access point applications is presented. The proposed antenna comprises two planar patches arranged back to back and fed by a single probe. The antenna can be easily constructed and it is founded to have omnidirectional radiation characteristic in the azimuth plane and the antenna gain is about 5 dBi. Studies of the proposed antenna for WLAN operation in the 2.4 GHz band (2400-2484 MHz) are presented and discussed.
