  • Abstract
The authors investigate the seen impedance by a loss-of-excitation (LOE) relay during simultaneous faults. The simultaneous fault condition considered is a single phase to earth fault on a 400 kV EHV transmission line and a double earth fault on the excitation system of a 600 MVA synchronous generator, which causes complete LOE. Simultaneous faults which include the excitation loss would develop a spiralling dynamic seen impedance trajectory
