Abstract
An efficient scheduling architecture, named multi-class uplink fair scheduling structure (MUFSS), to support bandwidth and delay quality of service guarantees for IEEE 802.16 networks. Various types of traffic are supported: constant bit rate, variable bit rate (real time and non-real-time) and best effort. An individual scheduling algorithm is assigned to each type of service in the uplink channel. The system is implemented using OPNET Modeler. The MAC and PHY layer characteristics are investigated to improve the system´s performance
