Abstract :
The two layer EBG structure was proposed. The bandgaps of the EBG structure were found by illuminating the structure with an incident plane wave and measuring the RCS versus frequency. By a parametric study for antennas with the two layer EBG substrates, a wideband EBG antenna was achieved. The impedance bandwidth reached 24.69%, which is very wide in the EBG field. And the gain was more than 3 dBi higher than that of the reference antenna.
