Risk management applied to nuclear decommissioning projects

The decommissioning of nuclear facilities provides many opportunities for the application of all forms of risk management. This summary outlines some of the work carried out by WS Atkins over the last five years. The work that they have undertaken falls into the category of project risk management-that is to say it concentrates on planning and programming; budgets and cost estimating; prediction of cash flows and advice on procurement strategies. The projects to which they have applied project risk management are described and the processes used are outlined. Finally the results obtained and the uses to which they are put are described
