Abstract
The scaling law of the high power fiber lasers has been investigated intensively. The cooling scaling, pumping scaling, power compression scaling and others show that fiber lasers have great potential to generate high average power with high efficiency. The biggest advantage of fiber lasers is the strict control of light propagation and the low loss property. As a result, a new concept of fiber laser as free-shape laser is created. As one of the possible design of fiber-embedded solid state lasers, a fiber-embedded disk laser is developed in the good collaboration network between universities and industries.
