Abstract :
This paper refers to a new calibration method using phase cancellation for measuring the dielectric properties of biological tissues based on electrically small open-ended coaxial probe. The physical model experiments of three calibration methods are undertaken in a frequency range of 1-120 MHz, the results show that the phase cancellation method offers a clear advantage in the reliability, furthermore, its result is not rely upon the standard reference material. Used to measure the complex permittivity with an electrically small open-ended coaxial probe, the phase cancellation is more reliable and simpler than the conventional calibration method.
