Abstract :
The hardware configuration of a transputer-based data logger for electrical reticulation applications is discussed with reference to the front-end signal conditioning, the transputer hardware topology, and the onboard software routines. Details are given on software features such as the handling of calibration constants and optimized techniques for the calculation of the output quantities within the parallel software environment offered by transputer-based technology. The advantages of a transputer-based design compared to conventional technology are discussed with reference to cost implications, speed, interfacing to host computers, programmability, accuracy, and calibration. It is shown that the use of transputer technology reduces the overall cost of such systems and yields greatly enhanced performance with reference to the above considerations
