Abstract :
A very fast spectral evolution in the broadband pulsed solid-state dye laser emissions generated from low-Q and short cavities is proved both experimentally and theoretically. this leads to a very fast oscillation damping on the short-wavelength wing of the broadband dye laser spectra. As a result, the direct generation of picosecond (∼90 ps) laser pulses adjustable in the 545-650 nm spectral range is achieved with a simple spectral selection, in a compact solid-state dye laser device pumped by a standard nanosecond laser.
