Abstract
The number of wind turbines connected to the Irish electrical power systems has been increasing rapidly over the last number of years. The new challenge for the power system operator is to accommodate the variable power output from wind generation. An analysis of wind power generation in the Irish power system during years 2003 and 2004, and perspectives of wind power penetration up to the year 2010 are presented in the paper. Grid code implications due to wind power generation, and power control criteria for the power system operator are also considered by the authors
