Abstract :
We report self-pulsing dynamics of an optically-pumped CH3OH molecular ring laser operating at wavelength of 119 μm. The dynamics observed under uni-directional operation includes regular pulsing and period bifurcation. Under bi-directional operation, both the forward and backward output intensity display self-organized dynamics due to mode coupling depending on the medium pressure. Numerical analysis based on an inhomogeneously-broadened three-level model reproduces the observed dynamics.
