Abstract
Summary form only given. A project schedule that includes a design phase, a construction and commissioning phase, and an operation phase has been developed for IGNITEX. A cost model that includes entries for the various subsystems of the IGNITEX experiment and facility has been formulated. As a result, a preliminary cost breakdown was obtained. The cost of constructing IGNITEX was estimated by including a 15% contingency. The total cost of construction has been preliminarily estimated to be about $130 M. A schedule of three years for construction and commissioning has been assumed. Cost scaling relationships for IGNITEX were developed, and cost breakdowns were evaluated for the small and large versions of the IGNITEX experiment. Some preliminary site requirements for the IGNITEX facility were obtained. Simplifying characteristics that permit substantial cost savings over conventional approaches were defined
