Abstract :
In this paper, numerical simulation of EM pulses propagating through one-dimensional dielectric films having complex first-order susceptibility are reported. Using time-dependent Maxwell´s curl equation, the reflected and transmitted pulses and that inside the film are recorded as time elapses and results are reported as functions of the complex susceptibility in time and frequency domain. The present study also investigates the feasibility of the application of characteristic-based algorithm to the simulation of nonlinear optics.
