Abstract :
This paper reports on the development of an improved pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) system to measure the space charge characteristics in the bulk of polyethylene insulation subjected to an applied voltage with a range of frequencies from zero to 100 Hz. The system enables multiple measurements to be taken at various positions on the applied voltage waveform within an acceptable time period. Details of the method are given with examples of the output waveforms and a comparison made of the new system with the existing one
