Abstract :
Brightness temperatures at frequencies V = 50.3 and 52.8 GHz at vertical (V) polarization measured by the ADEOS-II AMSR over tropical cyclones (TCs) allowed to register at the first time low-level warm core that is contained within the eye and results from air warming. It became possible due to a field of view (FOV) only 10 km times 10 km that in 20-100 times less the FOV of such instruments as Nimbus-6 SCAMS or AMSU NOAA-15, - 16,-17, which measured a broad-scale, upper-level warm anomaly component, representing the overall magnitude of the TC. Correlation between the magnitude of the warm anomaly at 52.8 GHz and the tropical cyclone´s central pressure was estimated. Due to short active period, only TCs of season 2003 were used for analysis. Numerical experiments with a microwave radiative transfer model were carried out to interpret the variations of the measured and determine a contribution of the ocean and the atmosphere to the TB(v) at variations of atmospheric parameters.
