Abstract :
Based on the stochastic concept for capacity on traffic problem, the procedure of capacity estimation is developed. Due to the fact that it is impossible to observe the value of the capacity and to obtain the probability distribution of the capacity, the non-parametric estimation methods of reliability are used in this paper to estimate the capacity. In order to implement the non-parametric estimation, the product limit and Turnbull estimation based on the traffic flow data are presented and the corresponding procedure is developed. Examples are provided to demonstrate that the methodology and procedure proposed in this paper are applicable and validated.
