Abstract :
After a short review of background, i.e. history of design related technical failures causing fatal accidents and Swedish Defense Materiel Administrations (FMV) purpose for creating a Weapons and Ammunition Safety Manual to enhance safety and reliability, the paper will focus on key requirements to attain highest level of safety and reliability. Safety reviews and practical examples of modern designs based on the use of the manual will be discussed (illustrated).
