Abstract :
The analysis and the realization of a control system for traction motor drives, based on a voltage source inverter and an induction motor, are proposed. Two different estimators for rotor flux observation and rotor resistance reconstruction, based on Kalman filter techniques, are considered and compared. The simulation of the whole drive is carried out using an integrated software tool, written in the ANSI C language. The tool is an open environment which allows simulation of a complete drive train system, from the supply line to the mechanical load, including CPU boards. The C code modules can be transferred without any change to the real-time multiprocessor board. Simulation results and experimental issues are discussed, considering a GTO high power drive and an IGBT medium power drive
