Abstract :
By its very nature, delivering information as a service upon the demands of the business, service-based business processes offer additional features and benefits that can complement traditional BI implementations in providing enterprises of all sizes a new approach to meet their data integration and analysis needs at all levels in the enterprise. To be successful, BI solutions have required new ways of approaching the business process interoperability, providing an efficient support for the whole process of service-based BI deployment. In this context, the focus of this paper is on the state of the art towards business process interoperability in the service-based business environments. Specifically, this paper also aims to highlight significant potentials of business rules that can enable business processes to meet the adaptability and interoperability requirements of service-based business processes. Some of the challenges current rule-based approaches face and potential research opportunities will be also highlighted.
