Abstract
A method of wind speed extraction using the position of the second order Doppler peaks has been developed. The derived expression is rooted in existing and proven theoretical models. The time dependent nature of wind-wave spectral growth has also been addressed. Both models are now being tested extensively on real HF radar data, with preliminary results showing the methods to be quite promising.
