Abstract
The Semiconductor Research Corporation is a research consortium that pools the resources of semiconductor stakeholders to fund generic, pre-competitive, university-based research. Created in 1982 by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), the SRC was founded to help the industry begin to respond to stronger global competitive pressures. It is credited with providing the North American semiconductor industry with key enabling technology and relevantly-trained scientists, resulting, at least in part, to regained market share for U.S, semiconductor producers and job growth for U.S. workers
