Abstract :
The long-term effects of BDE-209 on mice liver was evaluated. In this study, the tested CD-1 Swiss mice were randomly devided into normal group and chemically treated groups. The treated groups were administered daily by gavage different doses of 0.1, 40, 80 and 160 mg/kg/d BDE-209 for 15, 30 and 60 days respectively. Activities of xanthine oxidase (XOD), alanine aminotransferase (GPT) and glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) in serum were determined. And the histopathological changes of liver were also evaluated. Toxicological responses to BDE-209 in mice liver were investigated. Experimental results showed that the levels of XOD increased. The activities of GOT and GPT also showed significantly increase (P<;0.05) in Group D and E. Histological analysis revealed the adverse effects of BDE-209 on liver. These results indicated that BDE-209 could cause damage to liver in mice.
