Abstract :
Summary form only given. It is pointed out that the edge helicity dissipation model can be applied to spheromaks with magnetic field errors at the plasma boundary or edge where the effective electric field for helicity dissipation is determined by the Paschen breakdown condition in H2. Employing this model and the standard CTX equilibrium model, the authors seek to make some predictions about physical observables for the CTX spheromak. In particular, they are interested in predicting the amount of current drive attributable to the decay of magnetic flux and to relaxation currents. It is demonstrated that relaxation currents make up a significant contribution to the total spheromak current drive and are nonsingle fluid MHD in nature
