Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Time- and space-resolved plasma emission spectra from the US Air Force Weapons Laboratory compact toroid MARAUDER (magnetically accelerated rings to achieve ultrahigh directed energy and radiation) experiment have been recorded using an optical multichannel analyzer (OMA). The OMA was optically coupled to the emitting plasmas using fiber optic cables. Results were obtained in terms of the composition and purity of plasma species and ionization states for compact toroids formed of hydrogen and argon. Relative line strengths with a collisional radiative equilibrium (CRE) model were used to estimate the plasma temperature and density. Electron density has also been determined from profile analysis of the Hβ line in hydrogen
