  • Abstract
Artificial Magnetic Conductors (AMCs) active at or below 1 GHz often balance large geometries with higher dielectric constants to achieve the desired frequency target while maintaining a minimal thickness. This paper presents a 3D metamaterial unit cell as a low profile, small footprint alternative. Fabricated with low dielectric constant materials, experiments demonstrate an AMC of thickness λ0/53 active at 1.13 GHz, with antennae radiating in the presence the AMC exhibiting enhanced power transmission compared to antennae on other substrates.
