Abstract :
A novel approach to the design of millimeter wave antennas is introduced. A repeated kernel array of microstrip patches (ReKAMP) is used to achieve a wide bandwidth. The concept of repeated kernel (fractal) geometry is first illustrated. Simulation of several microstrip antennas based on this concept is demonstrated. All simulations are performed based on a full wave finite difference time domain simulator, Fidelity™, from the Zeland company. Simulations show that the new approach is capable of designing ultra-wideband millimeter wave antennas that can be useful for a multitude of millimeter wave applications.
