Abstract :
The need for cellular user localization is crucial in emergency case. For example, FCC require from wireless providers to localize the caller accuracy within 300 meters. Reliable knowledge of the radio propagation parameters will allow achieving better localization accuracy. In order to establish an efficient database of the received power for the development of localization algorithm, measurements and simulations were performed to investigate the quality of the predictions and to estimate the expected localization error. In this paper we have demonstrated that ray tracing simulations can predict in a relatively high accuracy the measured received power in real environments.
