  • Abstract
In the search for improvements to the telecommunications networks of multilocation organizations, private PBX networks have the potential to provide effective solutions. Benefits to be gained include effective network management and cost control, and greater business efficiency overall. The author shows that it is possible to implement full-featured networks even where digital circuits are not available or too expensive to consider. It is noted that the high cost or lack of availability of digital circuits for inter-PBX links need not prevent the implementation of full-featured private networks using the available analog circuits and a common channel signaling system like APNSS (Analog Private Network Signalling System). The integration of voice and data in a digital PBX network has opened up a vast area of potential new applications for voice and data communications within multilocation organizations
