An intelligent decision support architecture in collaborative business environments

Decision-makers exploit several channels to acquire up-to-date and reliable information, which they combine with background knowledge to formulate their decisions. Practice shows that such information is acquired from the Internet by a conceptually straightforward process involving the identification of information sources, querying these sources regularly and integrating the desired information pieces. However, the vast amount of useful information available on the net, hinders the information selection-filter-integration process resulting obsolete and poor quality knowledge. To address this, we propose a intelligent decision support architecture approach that builds on the notions of collaborative environments exploiting semantic web services and intelligent agents to provide precise knowledge on demand.
