  • Abstract
An efficient monocycle pulse transmitting scheme is presented. It is based on the direct modulation of the radiation from a patch antenna. The transmission line model of this direct antenna modulation scheme is derived and analyzed with the commercial circuit simulation software. With a house-built FDTD code which can incorporate time-varying lumped circuit element into the simulations, the potential for wideband pulse radiation from this patch antenna is further validated through the full-wave analysis
