Abstract
It is difficult to design flexible manufacturing systems. This is the reason why we need CAD tools to describe, evaluate and control them. In this paper, we are more interested in Petri nets and coloured Petri nets, for they allow not only an easy and precise graphic description, but they can also be used all along the life cycle of an application. We develop an approach to control such systems and we describe the different tools used. An example about the assembly manufacturing system shows the effectiveness of this approach
