Abstract :
Recently geospatial science and engineering has been experiencing a paradigm shift from having all data and computing resources owned locally to having them shared over the Web. This has brought both benefits and challenges to current Geospatial science and engineering education. GeoBrain, funded by NASA, has great insights to this new trend and establishes a unique Web-based data, information and knowledge system by adopting and developing latest Web service and knowledge management technologies. This system has cutting-edge capabilities in geospatial data discovery, visualization, retrieval and analysis and provides unprecedented online data, services, and other computing resources. This paper addresses the GeoBrain online resources for supporting college-level data-intensive geospatial science and engineering education by presenting GeoBrain Data Download with interoperable, personalized, on-demand data access and services (IPODAS) and the integrated GeoBrain Online Analysis System (GeOnAS).
