Abstract :
A method of imaging of a flat reflector with a smooth boundary using two-dimensional array of ultra-wavelength transducers has been developed. The method is based on the comparison of the amplitudes of the echoes received by the elements of the array with the step response of the element and the reconstruction of the reflector´s boundary. The proposed method has been experimentally tested using the 15 MHz matrix array. The error of the measured diameter of the test hole in steel foil was found to be significantly lower than the pitch of the array. Also, the proposed technique was applied for measurement of the nugget size in the spot welds.
