Abstract :
This paper presents and analyses integrated slot-type tag antennas for passive UHF RFID. Many cardboard packages are nowadays foiled with highly conductive material, and these slot-type tag antennas can be easily integrated into the packages by cutting a slot into the foiled surface of the container. This makes integrated and cost-effective tag antennas possible for container and item-level tagging. In this paper the radiation properties of slot-type tag antennas are modeled with finite element method (FEM) simulation tool and the performance of the tag antennas attached to conductive and liquid-containing packages is verified in practice with read range measurements
