Abstract :
Traditional TCP/IP implementations have required far too much resource to be useful in small, low-power and embedded wireless sensor networks. In this paper we present a novel protocol, named SIP (sensor Internet protocol), to implement TCP/IP feathers in wireless sensor networks. SIP deals with the communication between external hosts with TCP/IP protocol suite and wireless networked sensors with AM (active message) mechanism. By moving much of the resource demanding tasks from wireless networked sensors to an intermediate agent known as a proxy, SIP implements a certain amount of TCP/IP feathers.
