Abstract :
Gain enhancement of simple sources embedded within a 3-layer planar dielectric structure is treated rigorously. Rigorous antenna pattern and gain are deduced in simple forms. Comparison with the leaky wave approach introduced earlier by Jackson and Oliner confirm the validity of this approach under high permittivity of the substrate and the resonance thickness of the layers
